GMC Standardized "Local Rules" of golf.

All members are to incorporate these local rules for play during all tournaments.

We require that players use only balls that are named on the U. S. G. A list of conforming golf balls. Penalty: disqualification. If you need verification, please check in the pro shop for conforming U. S. G. A list.

We allow relief when a ball is embedded in its own pitch-mark, anywhere except in a hazard.

The board of directors has approved the following exceptions to the

U. S. G. A. Rules.

1. No player shall be penalized because of a missing or incorrect handicap on a scorecard.

2. It’s OK to play extra holes or to practice on the course after a round, even if the tournament is not over, as long as you're done competing for the day. You may use the course on "off days" during a tournament.

3. It’s OK to change balls on the green.

4. There is no restriction on where a players partner or caddie can stand during a putt, except that no one is permitted to unnecessarily stand where he would be a target.

5. All putter grips are legal.

6. It’s OK to give advice to anyone in your foursome. It is also OK to accept or ask for advice to anyone in your foursome.

7. Even before finishing a hole, a player is allowed to repair damage to the green or the hole, but repair means JUST repair. A ball settling in aeration hole may be moved within one inch of its position no nearer the hole.

8. Cart paths that are made of stones are immovable obstructions. Even if stones have moved from the original path they are still part of the obstruction. Nearest relief with the stance and one club length may be taken no nearer the hole for your drop. However, cart paths that have no stones or pavement are not obstructions, and no relief from them is permitted. Flowerbeds are also immovable obstructions. Where wooden railroad ties abut or adjourn an immovable obstruction, the ties are part of the obstruction.

9. Winter rules. Rules will be in effect only when declared by the Board or the Tournament Director. Under winter rules
 a) Only in a Player's own fairway may a player lift, clean and place his ball within one club length of where it comes to rest, except that he may not move it onto the green or close to the hole. With in these limits, he is allowed to improve his position.
 b) There is no relief in a water hazard or any green except for aeration holes and repair.

10. The leaf rule will be in effect only when declared by the Board or Tournament Director.
Under the leaf rule, if a ball is obviously lost in the leaves, and there is no reasonable doubt that it is in bounds and not in a hazard, the players in the group will make their best guess as the ball’s location. The player may choose without penalty, to drop a ball as near as possible to location in a spot that allows room for stance and swing (but not necessarily an open shot.)

11. If while playing the 6th or 15th holes on the White course, a player’s ball comes to rest in the parking lot, he must played from the designated drop area. There is no penalty, and a player does not have to find his ball. If this happens on the 10th hole, a drop area is within two club lengths of the front of the closely mowed teeing area (the ladies Tee.)

12. For someone playing the 14th hole on the White course, the inside edge of the road is the out of bounds line. A ball to the right of this line is out of bounds, even if it is on the course and playable. And the 13th hole of the White course, the same road is considered an immovable obstruction. The player is allowed to fine nearest relief with stance and one club length not nearer the hole for his drop.

13. The area behind the 13th hole on the White Course is now  marked by white stakes, and thus is out-of-bounds.

14. A member is responsible for the correctness of his scorecard recorded for each hole. If his scorecard is turned into the scorers’ table, properly signed, with the score for any hole lower than actually taken, he shall be disqualified. If he returns s score for any hole higher than actually taken, the score as returned shall stand. However, his corrected score shall be entered for handicap and round purposes. The committee is responsible for the addition of scores.
